Just a short post...been very sick lately.

First of all, Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper freakin' rocks! No, seriously, it does.

Second of all, I am way too excited about this.

It is like Nars read my mind...a perfect lipgloss shade to match the most perfect blush shade ever (Nars-Orgasm) Whee!

These guys I work with are so damn great. Ataur gave me a shawl and jewelry box from his latest trip home to Bangledesh. Long gave me some beautiful silks from China. The rest chipped in and bought me an IPOD. I so don't deserve the kindness that these wonderful folks give so freely. I feel badly for leaving. Over the four years I have worked at this company, these guys have become my family. It was heartbreaking leaving them. I feel as though I was the mother-hen and now they are orphans. I know that Karen will take care of them, but these were my guys. I have said it before and I will say it again...if you have to work for anyone, work for electrical engineers. Not a bad one in the bunch. The job was great...not one speck of office drama, no assholes, no prima-donnas. Just great guys that would do anything for you.

I am off to go hug my son...he always makes everything ok.

I was Laid Off!

I am so happy. My last day is Friday, and they will keep my on the payroll until April, then I will get an additional 4 weeks severance pay. Sweet! People keep walking up to me, looking very solemn saying, "Are you ok?" Are you kidding me? I am thrilled! "I was going to quit anyway!", I shout. Now I am being paid off! I am skipping down the hallways. I will be getting paid to just be a wife and a mom for a couple of months. It is so awesome, I think I need to go lie down.

Two Months!

I have been married a whole two months today! While I love being married, there are a few things that have been hard to get used to.

The toilet seat. Ladies, how have you gotten your husband to put down the seat? Seriously, I have fallen in on more than one bleary-eyed, midnight trip to the bathroom.
He leaves cabinet doors wide open. I am not sure why this annoys me but it does.
Snoring. He snores so fucking loud! The nose strips are no help at all. Will I get used to this and be able to sleep?
His choice of TV shows. We don't like the same shows. I desperately need to watch The Amazing Race, while he wants to watch House. Bleh. Maybe I can convince him we need a TIVO to save the marriage.

I am working on a list of the good things, really I am! Meanwhile, can somebody please tell me how to add a list of blogs I read to my blog. What is the proper etiquette in this situation? Should I get permission from the other blogger before I add their link?

Still Sick

My boy is still sick. He has been sick since Monday. He has a nasty fever and cough. I feel like I have let people down at work by being here taking care of him. You see, I am one of two secretaries supporting 100 engineers. Now, if you have to support anybody, engineers are the best bunch to work for. They are so polite and accomidating. The other secretary unfortunatly has to pay the price for my absence. I feel bad, but I know my boy needs me.

The company has announced yet another round of layoffs. Our group won't be affected much, but I have volunteered. Six months severance would be sweet. If I am not picked, I am quitting at the end of the month. I don't want to feel badly for doing what I should be doing anyway...being a mom. Let's just hope my husband isn't affected. I don't think he will, but I will breathe eaiser after the 27th.

Hi all,

I am not sure how to start, so I will start form the beginning.

I grew up in a very wealthy family on the east coast. I was the only girl and the youngest by far. I started my life not fitting in. I moved to San Diego in my late teens. (That is another story for another day) As I am very fair and shun the sun, I didn't fit in. Everywhere I looked I saw toned and tanned bodies and huge, fake breasts. I looked down at my own A-cups and wondered, "What the hell am I doing here"?

I met the wrong guy and had a baby. I thought I was in love, I was just young and stupid. I found myself with a baby, sleeping on friends' living-room floors. I started college and held down a full-time job while trying to be a decent mother. I found a good job with benefits and started to build a decent life for myself and my boy.

Four years ago, I accepted a job at a major telecommunications company and met the man of my dreams, although I didn't know it at the time. He was shorter than me, and from India. He has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and is from a very wealthy family. Not they guy I pitcured myself with. (I always liked the dirty, skater types) We started to have lunch together and slowly began to date. I waited a year before I introduced him to my son. We married on 11/20/04. My son calls him Dad and he is very happy. I am quitting my job soon and can't wait to be a full-time mom. It is the wife part that I am trying to learn. I hope you enjoy my blog.
